Instructor in Lindy Hop, Vernacular Jazz, and Charleston
Jess tried her first lindy hop class at Baltimore’s Mobtown Ballroom at the urging of a college buddy. Since then, she has been addicted to swingouts and sore feet. She moved to Atlanta in 2017 and can be regularly witnessed sleepwalking at various national workshops, like Lindy Focus, where she is also on staff. While not dancing, she is conniving ways to use her MPH in epidemiology, hiking in the middle of nowhere, and creating comedy with her sketch group Sketchy Millennials. Jess firmly believes that laughter makes people more open to trying new things. As such, her classes are full of terrible puns and weird noises. Despite her wacky demeanor, she cares about each student and focuses on physical health through warm-up and light stretching, as well as mental comfort through creating a warm environment for questions and concerns.
